Abstract
Endometriosis, or the occurence of endometrium in situation foreign to uterine? mucosa, is a curious pathologic condition which exibits characteristics of both malignant and benign tumors.
The pathogenesis of the endometriosis is not clearly established despite the various theories that have been presented.
The prevailing theories include; 1) transtubal regurgitation of menstrual blood; 2) the coelomic metaplasia doctrine; 3) lymphatic dissemination; 4) hematogenous spread. We experienced a case of the endonietriosis of the sigmoid colon in a woman 41 years of age, who developed intestinal obstructing signs.
We report this case with a brief review of the literatures.
